Description

These Air Fryer Cherry Cheesecake Egg Rolls are a fun and delicious dessert! Crispy egg roll wrappers are filled with a creamy cheesecake mixture and sweet cherry pie filling, then air-fried until golden brown and perfect for dipping or drizzling.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Cheesecake Filling:

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Egg Rolls:

  • 12 egg roll wrappers
  • 1 cup thick cherry pie filling (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • Cooking spray

Optional for Serving:

  • Powdered sugar, for dusting
  • Chocolate sauce, for drizzling
  • Caramel sauce, for drizzling

Instructions

  • Make Cheesecake Filling: In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with an electric mixer (or vigorously with a spoon) until smooth and fluffy. Add the granulated sugar and vanilla extract. Beat again until well combined.
  • Assemble Egg Rolls:
    • Lay one egg roll wrapper on a clean, dry surface with one corner pointing towards you (like a diamond).
    • Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the cheesecake filling onto the center of the wrapper, spreading it slightly into a small rectangle.
    • Top the cheesecake filling with about 1 tablespoon of the cherry pie filling. Do not overfill.
    • Fold the bottom corner up and over the filling.
    • Fold in the two side corners towards the center, like an envelope.
    • Tightly roll the wrapper up towards the top corner.
    • Brush the edges of the top corner with the lightly beaten egg. Seal the egg roll shut.
    • Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  • Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  • Prepare Egg Rolls for Air Frying: Lightly spray the outside of each assembled egg roll with cooking spray.
  • Air Fry: Place the egg rolls in a single layer in the air fryer basket, seam-side down. Do not overcrowd the basket; cook in batches if necessary. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until they are crispy and golden brown.
  • Cool and Serve: Let the egg rolls cool for a few minutes before serving, as the filling will be very hot. Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with chocolate or caramel sauce, if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Cream Cheese: Ensure the cream cheese is fully softened to avoid lumps in the filling.
  • Egg Roll Wrappers: Use standard egg roll wrappers, typically found in the refrigerated produce section. Wonton wrappers are too small.
  • Cherry Pie Filling: Use a thick pie filling so it doesn’t leak excessively. You can substitute other pie fillings like blueberry or apple.
  • Sealing: Properly sealing the egg rolls with the egg wash prevents the filling from leaking out during air frying.
  • Air Frying: Cooking time may vary slightly depending on your air fryer model. Cook in batches if needed to ensure even crisping.
  • Reheating: Reheat leftover egg rolls in the air fryer for a few minutes at around 350°F (175°C) to regain crispiness.
  • Storage: Leftovers can be stored, but they are best enjoyed fresh for maximum crispiness.
