Description

These Honey Garlic Salmon Bites are a quick, easy, and flavorful meal. Tender salmon cubes are seasoned, pan-fried until crispy, and then tossed in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 pounds salmon, skin removed, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium recommended)
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 teaspoons sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)
  • 2 teaspoons chopped chives (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare Salmon: Pat the salmon cubes dry with paper towels. This helps them brown properly.
  • Season Salmon: In a medium bowl, combine the salmon cubes with the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of the olive oil over the salmon and toss gently to coat evenly.
  • Cook Salmon (in Batches): Heat 1 tablespoon of the olive oil in a large, heavy-bottomed skillet (cast iron is ideal) over medium-high heat. Add half of the seasoned salmon cubes to the skillet in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for 4-5 minutes, turning the cubes frequently, until they are crispy, golden brown, and cooked through. Transfer the cooked salmon to a plate. Repeat with the remaining salmon, adding more oil to the skillet if necessary.
  • Sauté Aromatics: To the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger. Sauté over medium heat for about 1 minute, or until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  • Make Sauce: Pour the soy sauce, rice vinegar, and honey into the skillet with the garlic and ginger. Stir well to combine.
  • Simmer Sauce: Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.
  • Combine Salmon and Sauce: Return all of the cooked salmon bites to the skillet. Toss gently to coat the salmon evenly with the honey garlic sauce.
  • Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped chives (if using). Serve immediately over rice, quinoa, noodles, or with your favorite vegetables.

Notes

  • Salmon: You can use any type of salmon fillet, but make sure to remove the skin before cubing it.
  • Doneness: The cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of your salmon cubes. The salmon is cooked through when it flakes easily with a fork and is opaque in the center. Use a meat thermometer to check for an internal temp of 145.
  • Soy Sauce: Use low-sodium soy sauce to control the saltiness of the dish.
  • Honey: Adjust the amount of honey to your preference.
  • Serving Suggestions: These salmon bites are delicious served over rice, quinoa, noodles, or with a side of steamed vegetables. They also make a great appetizer.
  • Storage: Store in the fridge for 3-4 days.
