Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground meat (chicken, turkey, pork, or beef)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 1 medium head of green cabbage, thinly sliced
- 2 medium carrots, shredded
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
- Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Brown the Meat: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the ground meat and cook until browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain off any excess fat.
- Sauté Aromatics: Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and grated ginger to the skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently, until fragrant and the onion begins to soften.
- Cook Vegetables: Stir in the thinly sliced cabbage and shredded carrots. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
- Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Combine and Finish: Pour the sauce over the stir-fry mixture. Stir well to combine and cook for another 2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds (if using). Serve hot.
