Description

This Apple and Honey Burrata Toast is a simple yet elegant appetizer or light meal. Creamy burrata, crisp apple slices, and a drizzle of honey create a delightful combination of flavors and textures on toasted sourdough bread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 slices sourdough bread
  • 1 burrata ball (about 4 ounces)
  • 1 apple (such as Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala), thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • Fresh thyme leaves, for garnish
  • Flaky sea salt, for garnish

Instructions

  • Toast Bread: Toast the slices of sourdough bread until golden brown and crisp. You can use a toaster, toaster oven, or a skillet on the stovetop.
  • Prepare Burrata: Drain the burrata ball.
  • Assemble Toasts: While the bread is still warm, tear the burrata ball into pieces and spread it generously over the toasted sourdough slices.
  • Add Apple Slices: Arrange the thinly sliced apple slices on top of the burrata, overlapping them slightly.
  • Drizzle with Honey: Drizzle the honey evenly over the apple slices and burrata.
  • Garnish: Sprinkle with fresh thyme leaves and a pinch of flaky sea salt.
  • Serve: Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Bread: Sourdough bread is recommended for its tangy flavor and sturdy texture, but you can use other types of bread, such as ciabatta, baguette, or a rustic Italian loaf.
  • Apple Variety: Choose a crisp and flavorful apple, such as Honeycrisp, Fuji, Gala, or Pink Lady.
  • Burrata: Burrata is a fresh Italian cheese with a creamy center. If you can’t find it, fresh mozzarella is a good substitute.
  • Honey: Use your favorite type of honey. A local wildflower honey would be a great choice.
  • Thyme: Fresh thyme adds a lovely herbaceous note, but you can substitute other fresh herbs, such as rosemary or sage.
  • Serving Suggestions: These toasts are delicious as an appetizer, a light lunch, or a snack. You can also add other toppings, such as prosciutto, toasted nuts, or a drizzle of balsamic glaze.
