Description
Apple Cider Vinegar Detox Drink Recipe – A simple beverage made with apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, ginger, and spices, intended to cleanse and boost your energy.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar (preferably raw, unfiltered with ‘the mother’)
- 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger (or 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger)
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 dash cayenne pepper (optional, adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon raw honey (optional, for sweetness)
Instructions
- Heat Water: Heat 1 cup of water in a small saucepan until it comes to a boil.
- Cool Slightly: Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the water cool down slightly for a minute or two (so it’s hot but not boiling).
- Combine Ingredients: Pour the hot water into your favorite mug. Add the apple cider vinegar, fresh lemon juice, grated fresh ginger (or ground ginger), ground cinnamon, cayenne pepper (if using), and raw honey (if using).
- Steep: Stir well to combine all the ingredients. Let the mixture steep for a couple of minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Strain (Optional): If you used fresh grated ginger and prefer a smoother drink without the ginger pieces, you can pour the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into another mug.
- Serve: Enjoy the drink warm.
Notes
- Apple Cider Vinegar: Raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar containing “the mother” is often preferred for potential health benefits, but filtered ACV can also be used.
- Ginger: Freshly grated ginger provides the strongest flavor and potential benefits. Ground ginger is a convenient substitute.
- Cayenne Pepper: Adds a warming kick. Start with a small dash and add more if desired.
- Honey (Optional): Raw honey is optional for sweetness. You can omit it entirely or use another sweetener like maple syrup or stevia if preferred, although typically “detox” drinks avoid added sugars.
- Water Temperature: Using hot (but not boiling) water helps dissolve the honey (if using) and steep the ginger and spices.
- When to Drink: Often consumed in the morning, but can be enjoyed anytime.
- Storage: This drink is best made fresh each time.
