Description
This Chicken Caesar Wrap is a quick, easy, and satisfying meal. It combines all the classic elements of a Caesar salad – crisp romaine lettuce, grilled (or fried/rotisserie) chicken, Parmesan cheese, and croutons – with a creamy Caesar dressing, all wrapped up in a soft flour tortilla.
Ingredients
- 3 cups chopped romaine lettuce
- 1 1/2 cups chopped or shredded cooked chicken (grilled, fried, or rotisserie)
- 1/3 cup Caesar dressing (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/3 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup homemade croutons (or store-bought)
- Kosher salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 4 (10-inch) flour tortillas (or wraps)
Instructions
-
Prepare Salad Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the chopped romaine lettuce, chopped cooked chicken, Caesar dressing, grated Parmesan cheese, and croutons.
-
Toss Salad: Use tongs to toss the salad ingredients together until they are well combined and evenly coated with the dressing.
-
Season to Taste: Season the salad with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Add more Caesar dressing if desired.
-
Warm Tortillas: Warm the tortillas to make them soft and pliable. You can do this in several ways:
- Skillet: Heat a large, dry skillet over medium heat. Place one tortilla in the skillet at a time and cook for about 15-30 seconds per side, or until warm and slightly softened.
- Microwave: Wrap the tortillas in a slightly damp paper towel and microwave for 15-30 seconds, or until warm.
- Oven: Wrap the tortillas in foil and heat in a 350°F (175°C) oven for a few minutes.
-
Keep Warm: Place the warmed tortillas on a plate and cover them with a clean kitchen towel to keep them warm and pliable while you assemble the wraps.
-
Assemble Wraps:
- Lay a warmed tortilla flat on a clean work surface.
- Divide the Caesar salad mixture evenly among the tortillas, placing it in a line down the center of each tortilla. Do not overfill.
- Fold in the opposite sides of the tortilla over the filling.
- Then, starting from one end, tightly roll up the tortilla, enclosing the filling, like a burrito.
-
Secure (Optional): If desired, you can secure the wraps with toothpicks to help them stay closed.
-
Serve: Cut the wraps in half (optional) and serve immediately.
Notes
- Chicken: You can use grilled, fried, or rotisserie chicken. Leftover cooked chicken is perfect for this recipe.
- Caesar Dressing: Use your favorite store-bought or homemade Caesar dressing.
- Parmesan Cheese: Freshly grated Parmesan cheese is recommended for the best flavor.
- Croutons: Homemade croutons add a nice crunch, but you can use store-bought croutons.
- Tortillas: Use large (10-inch) flour tortillas or wraps. Make sure they are soft and pliable.
- Serving Suggestions: Serve these wraps as a quick and easy lunch or dinner. They’re also great for picnics or packed lunches.
