Description
This London Fog Smoothie is the perfect fall snack or breakfast on the go, capturing the cozy flavors of the classic tea latte! Have your coffee (or tea!) and breakfast all in one bowl! Add protein powder or nut butter to make it heartier.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup strongly brewed Earl Grey tea, cooled & frozen into ice cubes
- 1 cup vanilla soy milk* (or milk of choice – oat, almond, dairy)
- 1–2 tablespoons hemp hearts (optional)
- 2–4 pitted dates (or to taste, optional sweetener)**
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Optional Add-ins:
- 1 tablespoon almond butter (or other nut/seed butter)
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
- 1/4 cup plain or vanilla Greek yogurt
Instructions
- Freeze Tea (Prep Ahead): Brew 1 cup of strong Earl Grey tea. Let it cool completely, then pour it into an ice cube tray and freeze until solid (at least 4 hours or overnight).
- Combine Ingredients: Place the frozen Earl Grey tea ice cubes, vanilla soy milk (or other milk), hemp hearts (if using), pitted dates (if using), and vanilla extract (if using) into a blender. Add optional protein powder, nut butter, or yogurt now, if desired.
- Blend: Secure the lid and blend on high speed until completely smooth and creamy. If the smoothie is too thick, add a splash more milk; if too thin, add a few more regular ice cubes or frozen tea cubes (if you made extra).
- Serve: Pour into a glass and serve immediately.
Notes
- Frozen Tea Cubes: Freezing the tea into ice cubes is essential for the thick, cold smoothie texture without watering down the flavor.
- Milk Choice: Vanilla soy milk is suggested, but any milk (dairy or non-dairy like oat or almond) works. If using plain milk, you might want to add the vanilla extract and adjust sweetness.
- Sweetener: Dates provide natural sweetness. Adjust the amount based on your preference, or substitute with maple syrup, honey (if not vegan), or your preferred sweetener. Can be omitted entirely.
- Add-ins: Hemp hearts add healthy fats and protein. Protein powder, nut butter, or Greek yogurt can be added to make the smoothie more substantial.
- Storage: Smoothies are best enjoyed immediately after blending.
